small drop of courage

It was a wet summer morning; I was sitting on my desk, scrolling down the pages of a particular office document. It was one of those days when you have a ‘not in the mood’ feeling at work. However, still forcing my way through all those pages as I know in my conscious mind, I need to deliver my best here. Just then, a random thought cropped up in me. I look around only to realize that we all are somehow trying to push ourselves to deliver the targets, the goals, objectives, so on and on. But, the question is, how many of us are doing it because we love doing it? How many of us enjoy taking so much corporate pressure. It almost hinders our way of life. Perhaps, very few or maybe NONE.

Then why???? Maybe because we all are part of the “rat race” not just now but from our childhood days.

Long before, we even knew what friends are; we came to know about school, home-works, exams, and grades. Funny. But it is then when we become part of this rat race.

The rat race of excelling in school, colleges, universities, and job, of course, the list is endless. In another light, we have crossed various levels in this rat race. And we are still running with the hope to surpass the next.

But now I wonder how it would have been if we all do things which excites us and keeps us on our toes, without having to worry about the situations. Somehow, none of us have the free will to pursue our passion. And even sometimes we lack the courage to admit it. But, some do accept it and move on. Others keep on running away from the stark reality that it is. There, of course, are flaws in the system at various levels that restrict us, which discourages us from following our dreams. The reality of this competitive world scares the hell out of us.

But let’s not forget, there are people who against all have the guts to pursue their passion and made a name in there. So all we need is that small drop of courage from within and a strong desire which overcomes everything. Of course, the road ahead will be steep and trodden. But the pain you feel today is the strength you will feel tomorrow. As someone rightly said – “Don’t Quit. You are already in pain; you are already hurt. Get a reward from it.”
