Every month a boy’s parents took him on a trip to see his Grandma and came back home on the same train the next day. One day, the boy wanted to try traveling alone, and hence out of excitement, the boy asked permission from his parents: “I’m grown up. Can I go to Grandma’s home alone?”
After a brief discussion, his parents accepted. They accompanied their son and were waiting at the station waiting for the train to leave. They said goodbye to their son and gave him some advice through the window. The boy responded with a boring face, “I know it very well. You have told me the same thing multiple times.”
As the train was all set to move, his father murmured in his ear: “Dear Son if you ever feel frightened or insecure, this will help you out!” And he dropped something in his son’s pocket. Sitting on the train, the boy was without his parents for the first time.
He was admiring the landscape out the window. When everything was fine, suddenly a gang of rowdies entered the train, out of nowhere. They made a hell of noise running up and down the compartment and scared all the passengers. They bullied as well as heckled the passengers. One of them made an evil look at this small boy seated alone, which scared him a lot.
The boy started feeling cornered and alone. About to cry, he remembered that his father had put something in his pocket. Trembling, he searched for it. It was a small sheet of paper with a note on it, his father had written: “Dear Son, I’m in the compartment of the train, so no worries!”
The Bottom Line
That’s how life is. Parents let their kids go. But they always like to be in the last compartment, watching, in case their children find obstacles and don’t know what to do. Parents are not clinging. They just want to be available for their children always.
