We have a lot of lessons to learn from Amitabh Bachchan. I admire his infectious enthusiasm for life and his wholehearted participation in the journey. Also his untiring passion for his craft. He’ll be 80. But look at him here. This selfie he posted on Instagram was taken on the way to work. At 7 in the morning! I don’t think there would be anybody half that age who could be so sunny, cheerful, and colorful about going to work at that uncivilized hour as he is. And gung-ho enough to want to take a selfie (in yellow spectacles) and share it with the world. But Mr. Bachchan is cut from a different cloth.
I talked to him about this once. Asked him about his inexhaustible reservoir of energy. He told me, “I believe you enjoy what you’re doing or don’t do it. What matters to me is doing something new. Creativity can not be a 9 to 5 job, it arises from enthusiasm to do something. I rejoice in being alive, I always look for a new challenge, a new exposure every day. An artist should never say that he is satisfied. As for my energy – what energy! of course, There’s an involvement of a lot of huffing and puffing along with energy drinks. It’s also embarrassing at times. But sometimes when you are surrounded by some youngsters who are egging you, it makes you go for it.
