today i had a dream
a billion stars glistening in the sky,
a sight so frightening yet terrific
because it was a sight i have not yet seen in the waking hours of my life
but i reflect on my vague dream now
a faint memory that im beginning to lose
so i write down the bits and pieces of what i seem to remember
and if the stars were to shine before my very eyes tonight
i’d still fix my gaze at you
for in your eyes are the reflection of everything i have ever loved
and i would without a second thought prioritise holding your hand
above chasing the stars i so dearly treasure
because what would this life be
if you didn’t lend me your light?
for that i’m so grateful my love
and this love my heart holds for you
goes beyond the numbers of the stars in the sky
unknown, unimaginable, invisible to the eye,
but deep down
you and i both know
they effortlessly continue to shine.
