From 75 Kg to 59 Kg: Kiran Vaswani’s Journey to Becoming the Anchor She Always Was

Kiran Vaswani has spent years on stage. As a corporate emcee, wedding host, and event anchor based in Lucknow, she has hosted award galas like the Migsun Power Leader Awards, product launches, brand activations, and some of the biggest Sindhi and Punjabi weddings in the city. Her job is to hold a room’s attention. But for a long time, she says, she wasn’t getting the same attention when it came to being hired.

“There were events I wasn’t considered for,” she says. “Not because I lacked skill. Because of how I looked.”

That’s the honest starting point of her story. This is not a tale about vanity or chasing a number on a scale. It’s about a working professional who decided to change her health, and in the process, changed how the world responded to her.

The Turning Point

At 75 kg, Kiran was already skilled at her craft. She had the voice, the timing, and the stage presence that made her a sought after host. What she didn’t have was the confidence to match. She noticed how clients hesitated. She noticed how certain bookings slipped away. It wasn’t said out loud, but she understood the message.

Instead of getting stuck in resentment, she made a decision. She wanted to feel as strong offstage as she sounded onstage.

What She Actually Did

Kiran’s transformation from 75 kg to 59 kg did not happen through starvation or extreme punishment. She focused on making smarter food choices and building habits that fit her everyday routine. Her plan combined a few well known nutrition approaches, adapted to fit her lifestyle and schedule as a full time event host.

  • Low carbohydrate eating: Kiran cut down significantly on refined carbohydrates such as white rice, maida, and sugary snacks. Low carb diets work by reducing the body’s dependence on quick burning glucose and pushing it to use stored fat for energy instead. Research has shown that reducing refined carbs can support fat loss and help stabilize blood sugar and energy levels throughout the day, which mattered for someone constantly on her feet at events.
  • Ketogenic phases: At certain points in her journey, Kiran followed a ketogenic approach, which is a high fat, moderate protein, very low carbohydrate diet. The goal of keto is to shift the body into a state called ketosis, where fat is burned for fuel instead of carbohydrates. This is a stricter version of low carb eating and is typically followed for defined periods rather than as a permanent lifestyle, since it requires careful planning around fat and protein intake.
  • Replacing, not restricting: This is the part of her journey Kiran talks about the most, because it’s the part people misunderstand. She did not simply cut foods out and rely on willpower to get through cravings. She replaced them.

Kiran has always been a big-time foodie. Giving up the foods she loved was never going to be a realistic or lasting solution. Instead of cutting them out completely, she found smarter ways to enjoy them. If she craved momos, for example, she would make them using rice paper instead of traditional maida wrappers. It gave her the satisfaction of eating something she enjoyed while making it a healthier choice. That simple swap captures her entire philosophy: don’t stop enjoying food, just find a version that works better for your body.

“People assume I stay hungry all the time,” Kiran says. “I don’t. I eat differently than I used to, but I still eat food I enjoy.”

Why This Approach Worked

Diets built entirely on restriction tend to fail over time. The body and mind can only run on willpower for so long before old habits return. What made Kiran’s journey sustainable was that she built a system she could live with. She didn’t treat her diet as a temporary fix before an event season. She treated it as a long term shift in how she eats every day.

This is echoed across nutrition research. Sustainable weight loss depends less on finding the perfect diet and more on finding an approach a person can maintain for years, not weeks. Kiran’s rice paper momos are a small but clear example of that idea in action.

The Shift Nobody Talks About

The physical transformation is only half of Kiran’s story. The bigger shift happened in how she carried herself.

She describes feeling more confident in her own body, in everyday moments, not just on stage where she’s used to performing. Walking into a room. Standing for a photo. Speaking to a client before a contract is signed.

And the clients noticed. The same people who once hesitated to hire her started reaching out again. Bookings that had gone picked back up. It’s an uncomfortable truth about the industry, but Kiran doesn’t shy away from it. She uses it as motivation to keep showing up as her strongest self, physically and professionally.

Today, people often assume her photos are edited or AI generated. She laughs this off, but also takes it seriously. “This is just what consistency looks like over time,” she says. It’s proof of the work, even if it means occasionally having to explain that the photo is real.

Still the Same Voice

What hasn’t changed is Kiran’s love for her work. She still commands a stage the same way she always did. She still walks into wedding mandaps and guides families through emotional rituals. She still hosts award nights and virtual events with the same energy that built her career in the first place.

What has changed is that she no longer separates her health from her career. They are part of the same commitment to showing up fully, on her own terms, without giving up the food or the joy she loves along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

What diet did Kiran Vaswani follow to lose weight?

She combined a low carbohydrate approach with periods of a ketogenic diet, alongside replacing junk food with healthier alternatives rather than cutting food out entirely.

What is the rice paper momo swap she talks about?

Instead of giving up momos, one of her favorite foods, Kiran started making them with rice paper wrappers instead of regular maida wrappers, keeping the taste while making the dish lighter.

How long did it take her to go from 75 kg to 59 kg?

Her transformation took place over a sustained period of consistent effort rather than a quick fix, which is part of why the results have lasted.

Did her career change after her transformation?

Yes. Kiran has spoken about how clients who previously hesitated to book her began reaching out again after her transformation, though her skill as an anchor and host remained the same throughout.

Every transformation, physical, emotional, or professional, deserves to be told honestly. Story of Souls is a platform built for exactly these kinds of stories.
