WAR OR PEACE
We humans, the Almighty’s very own creation,
Are the finest products of his imagination,
Sent to the earth, to do a good deed,
Leaving no room for any race, caste, or creed
Alas! But this was not to be,
For hatred and anguish is the scene that we see,
The world is torn down by distrust and strife
Abandoning all that is good in life,
Ready to pick up a fight or kill,
As though it provides a kind of thrill
War and bloodshed is the order of the day
Peace and harmony – for them we must pray
The degeneration of man is perceived
Causing to one and all a lot of grief
Religion, that preaches oneness and unity
Its preachers are responsible for distorting its sanctity
Geographical barriers have hastened the divide
Selfish interests have turned the tide
Politics has surfaced its ugly head
Spreading all around, gloom and dread
The masses suffer and groan
The minuscule fight a vicious battle for the throne
Helplessness and fear is what we breathe today
Ominous clouds make the firmament seem grey
Life no longer seems worth living
It is bereft of the magic of loving
Man has become his own foe
Can this world survive anymore?????
Our Storyteller:
Shabnam Burk is from Mumbai who is also a post-graduate from Kolkata University.
In addition, Shabnam has been a school teacher and a private tutor for all ages, with her unmatched expertise in this field for 20 years. Further, her love for the English language is evident in her writing skills of poems about life. Her passion for teaching is vouched by every student she meets. She also likes teaching Math as a subject.
Further, Shabnam has been a strong advocate of personality development in her students. And she also believes in their wholesome & all-rounded training. In addition, she teaches aspects of speech, drama, and phonetics in her regular classes, making them more interesting.
Moreover, she is a true experimenter at heart. Presently Shabnam is taking a sabbatical. Trying new skills in fashion designing with her sister in the vast city of Mumbai. In conclusion, she is an amazing soul making us inspired by her poems about life.
