Kargil War Memorial-: A tribute to the Heroes
Haven’t we all heard about the Kargil War? More than 20 years ago, when our neighbouring country treacherously intruded in Ladakh. The ensuing war which resulted in a resounding Indian victory was memorialized and a War Memorial at Drass. Some of us have visited this Kargil War Memorial. Those who have would be foremost in acknowledging that it was one of the best experiences they ever had! I am one of those lucky people too!
My Experience of Kargil War Memorial
We all get to know about army operations taking place in various parts of our country. But, when I visited this place, I could understand the real sense and significance of our armed forces. The artefacts in the Memorial make you imagine how the soldiers fought. And envisage how they will always fight to maintain the peace and harmony of the country. Today, I am realising that how blessed we are. As we have such brave soldiers who protect the peace of the country. On the other hand, the soldiers too must be so proud! Such a satisfaction that they are able to do something for our motherland. This is my tribute to our soldiers.
Everything over there was mesmerizing.
The statues, the garden, the memorial itself- just breathtaking! The Board displaying the names of martyrs tells us a glorious, but at the same time, the sad story of how our brave soldiers had sacrificed their lives to protect our country from the invading neighbouring army. The epitaph mentioned the brave deeds of the soldiers who fought for our country. They are igniting the spirit of patriotism in my as well as other young minds. I also saw five hundred and fifty-nine tombs of all the martyrs during Operation Vijay.
Patriotism and sadness! What an unforgettable experience. This visit will remain a memorable one for a lifetime. Such an experience. This will definitely raise the feeling of patriotism. Also, the urge for contributing to the betterment of the country you belong to. This is my tribute to the fighter souls.
After seeing this, I feel even more proud to be Indian.
