You are holding a cup of Coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you, making you spill your Coffee. Why did you spill your Coffee? Because someone bumped into you, right? Wrong answer. You spilled the Coffee because the Coffee was in your cup.
Had there been Tea, you would have spilled Tea. The point is, regardless of what is inside the cup, it will spill out. Likewise, when Life comes along and shakes you (which will
happen), whatever is inside you will spill out. It’s easy to fake it. Until you get rattled. So we have to ask ourselves, “What’s in my cup?” When Life gets bumpy, what spills out? Is it joy, gratefulness, peace, and humility? Or do anger, bitterness, envy, harsh words, and spiteful reactions come out?
We choose what’s in our cup. Just as we pick a Darjeeling over an Assam Tea. Or a Cappuccino over an Espresso Coffee. You can fill your cup with love, gratitude, forgiveness, patience, understanding, words of affirmation to yourself and others,
kindness and gentleness, and simple happiness. We need more of that. The world needs more of that. Then let yourself get bumped, and see how you change the world.
