She oft-times whispered in ink; words falling silently onto a page,
immortalized, after having been read. And I, gingerly
sipping a cup of hot coffee, and she,
giving an awkward
smile,
as I, nodded politely in return, as if not wanting to offend…
Rarely a word spoken, still a conversation
“Have you heard the news….?”
I turn the page, chaos, and turmoil in the Middle East, the third
world countries, in our
streets…
“Daily occurrences….”, She sighs and agrees,
another awkward
smile.
Rhetorical questions oft
ignored.
Utters a hushed whisper, I attempt to regain my composure.
I realise she is not pleased. A boutique of red roses
later that evening she readily
receives…
Whispers that I am such a fool….
There are words which have slipped out within a pause
which I may never recover, not that I have
found them illegible or
insignificant.
do get lost, forgotten or misplaced at times when least expected.
Realise, these are chaotic times. This is the new normalcy.
Things are not as they once
were,
and may never will be
again.
One must grow accustomed to them accordingly, no matter how
painstakingly familiar they are, as we attempt to piece it
back together,
although, we find it is difficult to accept what may never be
until we re-familiarise ourselves with the occurrences
we are dealt within our daily
lives.
We will find ourselves groping in the dark until we become
practically non-existent. Something I certainly do not
look forward
to.
