How dumb of me? I am still begging for someone who has gone from my life and never wanted to come back.

Sometimes, we win in love. Sometimes, we lose. And sometimes, we continue losing long after the relationship has ended, caught somewhere between love, longing and loneliness.

This is a story written on Valentine’s Day while thinking about an incomplete love. It is about betrayal, memories, rejection and the difficult process of accepting that someone you love may no longer want to be a part of your life.

When Love Becomes Incomplete

We had taken an oath not to share anything about our relationship with anyone.

Sadly, I was betrayed.

Everything was out. All my friends knew everything, and somehow, I became the villain of the story. My friends judged me, and I was left trying to understand what had happened.

But I do not care now. Nothing matters anymore.

“When it rains, you got to feel the rain. When it snows, you go to play the fluff.”

Yes, we had fun. I was loved, or at least I believed I was. You pretended that you still won the HUMAN award.

Thanks for your pretty tears.

The Last Letter

I gave you a letter. The last letter.

But it was not just a letter. It was a piece of my heart, carrying everything I could not say aloud and everything I was still longing to tell you.

You know how much I cried.

And I know how precious your tears are.

Sometimes, emotions are impossible to explain. You can write pages, make promises and revisit every memory, yet still fail to communicate the hurt sitting inside you.

That was where I was.

Still waiting. Still remembering. Still hoping.

Waiting for What the Heart Wants

I am not too fond of rain sometimes and the Sun sometimes. Both play hide and seek with me.

But I will wait for what I desired wholeheartedly.

I am not ashamed of any soul’s desires. I respect them.

The only glitch is the mood of the opposite person who does not understand or empathise with my hurt feelings.

That is perhaps the hardest part of an incomplete love story.

You can understand your own feelings perfectly and still have no control over how another person responds to them.

When the Brain Fights the Heart

Here comes our rescuer: our brain.

It protects us from making bad decisions that could hurt ourselves or others.

But the fight between the heart and the brain is rarely simple.

The heart remembers.

The brain reminds us.

The heart hopes.

The brain knows.

And somewhere between the two, we continue living.

The fight continues with blame, denial, rejection, hatred, complexity, guilt and an idle brain that keeps returning to the same memories.

Life continues.

And I resist every word from love to lust.

When Heartbreak Affects Everything

I spoiled the morning.

I spoiled a friendly meeting.

I spoiled the day.

And here I am, spoiling my life.

Of course, you did nothing.

That may be the hardest truth to accept.

Sometimes, the person we blame for our pain is no longer doing anything to cause it. The memories, expectations and unanswered questions continue doing the work on their own.

I am still feeling the same as I did last year.

How dumb am I?

How wrong am I?

I am still feeling the same.

What Does Incomplete Love Feel Like?

Incomplete love can leave a person caught between hope and acceptance. The relationship may have ended, but the emotions do not always disappear at the same time.

You may continue remembering conversations, replaying moments and wondering what could have been different.

There may be no satisfying ending. There may be no final explanation that makes everything feel right.

Sometimes, closure begins when you accept that you may never receive the answer you were waiting for.

Why Is It So Difficult to Let Go of Someone You Love?

Letting go is difficult because love is connected to memories, expectations and the future we imagined with another person.

When that future disappears, we do not only lose the person. We also lose the version of life we imagined alongside them.

That is why moving on can take time.

It does not mean that the feelings were fake. It means that life eventually has to continue beyond them.

Love, Longing and Loneliness

Perhaps love is not always about having someone beside you.

Sometimes, love becomes a memory.

Sometimes, it becomes a letter that is never answered.

Sometimes, it becomes a lesson.

And sometimes, it becomes a quiet part of your life that you carry without knowing exactly when it will stop hurting.

I am still dumb in your love.

Maybe that is how incomplete love survives.

Hasta la vista.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is an incomplete love story?

An incomplete love story is a relationship or emotional connection that ends without the desired resolution, leaving one or both people with unanswered feelings, memories or questions.

2. What does unrequited love feel like?

Unrequited love can feel like longing, loneliness, rejection and emotional uncertainty. A person may continue caring for someone even when those feelings are no longer returned.

3. Why is it difficult to let go of someone you love?

It can be difficult to let go because love is tied to memories, emotional attachment and hopes for the future. Accepting that the relationship has ended can take time.

4. How do you deal with the pain of lost love?

Dealing with lost love often begins with acknowledging the feelings instead of denying them. Giving yourself time, maintaining healthy routines and gradually accepting the situation can help you move forward.

5. Can you still love someone after they leave?

Yes. Feelings do not necessarily disappear when a relationship ends. Someone can continue to love or care about a person while also learning to accept that the relationship is over.
