Life will not always unfold according to our wishes. People we love will leave, circumstances will change, and things we have worked tirelessly to build may one day slip beyond our grasp. We will encounter disappointment, loss, and, at times, undeserved pain.
This is not a failure of life. It is part of being alive.
Yet we spend much of our existence waiting for the world to become kinder, people to become more understanding, and circumstances to become more favourable. We imagine that peace will arrive when everything finally falls into place.
But what if the conditions we are waiting for never fully arrive?
Perhaps peace begins when we stop demanding that life conform to our expectations and start cultivating the wisdom to meet it as it is.
This is not resignation. Acceptance does not mean tolerating injustice, abandoning ambition, or surrendering our ability to change things. It means seeing reality clearly enough to respond intelligently rather than exhausting ourselves wishing it were otherwise.
We can strengthen the body, discipline the mind, deepen our discernment, and cultivate the emotional maturity to navigate difficult circumstances. We can prepare without becoming fearful, care without becoming possessive, and strive without making our happiness entirely dependent on outcomes.
True resilience is not the absence of vulnerability. It is the capacity to experience pain without losing perspective, encounter disappointment without abandoning hope, and face adversity without postponing life.
Love those who are here. Appreciate what you have. Prepare wisely for what may come. When change arrives, meet it with courage; when loss comes, allow yourself to grieve; when something can be changed, act with clarity.
Do not spend your life waiting for a world in which nothing goes wrong. Cultivate the wisdom to meet life as it is, while contributing wholeheartedly to what it could become.
The world may never offer us complete control. But we need not surrender our peace to everything that happens around us.
Perhaps freedom is not having life permanently under control. Perhaps it is being fully engaged in life without needing to control every part of it.
And perhaps the deepest preparation is this: to develop an inner steadiness that allows us to remain awake to life’s beauty, even in the presence of its difficulties.
About Lovely Basantwani

Some writers write to tell a story. Some write to make you pause and listen to the conversation within.
Lovely Basantwani is a reflective writer whose words often explore the quieter sides of being human — self-discovery, solitude, healing, relationships, resilience and the courage to keep becoming.
His writing has a simple yet powerful quality. He speaks directly to the reader, reminding them that solitude does not always mean loneliness, silence is not always strength, and rejection does not have to define our worth. Whether he is writing about happiness, inner conversations, karma or resilience, his message often comes back to one simple truth — growth begins when we stop running away from ourselves.
Lovely Basantwani’s writing invites us to slow down, look within and listen to the voice we often overlook — our own.
